  • Abstract
The aim of this study is to create an internet based social memory application that can be used in social studies lesson. In addition, to determine the views of social studies teachers on the application. Although there is a scientific literature on the Meskhetian Turks and the exiles they live in, there is no memory-related study in our country. In this context, a web-based social memory application (Meskhetian Turks Memory Project - ATHP) was developed by the researcher using ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) instructional design model and geo-media technology. Narrative technique, which is a qualitative research method, was used to construct the ATHP database. For this purpose, oral history study was conducted. In order to obtain data, eight Meskhetian Turks were identified with the homogeneous sampling technique, among the sampling techniques. A holistic multi-case study, one of the qualitative research methods, was conducted to evaluate the ATHP. Nine social studies teachers were determined with maximum diversity method among purposeful sampling methods. The data obtained were evaluated by content analysis. As a result of the research, the findings obtained from the opinions of social studies teachers indicate that the aim of ATHP is to reach a main and correct source, to keep memory alive and to achieve ideal unity; that the use of ATHP in social studies courses is appropriate for value teaching, curriculum and overall achievements; that the strengths of ATHP allow first-hand resources sharing, skills training and value teaching; The weaknesses of ATHP indicate that while the sample and interface are limited, morphological differences and content in the language are high. In order to increase the functionality of ATHP, it has been determined that inter-institutional cooperation, reaching out to large audiences and expanding the content are necessary. With this study, ATHP became the first social memory study based on geo-media technology. At the end of the research, some suggestions were made to the researchers.
