Abstract :
Three-dimensional modelling of electromagnetic systems using Fourier series is applied to a system consisting of a coil surrounding a plasma column with complex conductivity. The coil impedance is calculated as a function of the plasma conductivity in the radio frequency range. The plasma conductivity can therefore be determined experimentally through the measurement of the impedance. The calculation yields an accurate result and is easy to perform even with small computers. Its versatility allows more complicated coil geometries and other media than in the present example treated
