Abstract
A method is described in which the iron loss of single phase transformer cores constructed from grain-oriented silicon-iron can be reduced. It is shown in two different sized cores that by assembling the limbs with laminations cut at small angles to the rolling direction (RD) of the steel, and stacked in a certain way, the loss can be reduced. Reductions of up to 6 percent were achieved in cores assembled from high permeability steel.
