Abstract :
A multiprotocol converter allowing file access, transfer and management and remote job entry across different network protocols is presented. The gateway architecture and the protocol conversion model, mediated by a file system, are described. It is shown that this approach greatly reduces the complexity of the multiprotocol conversion problem. Some examples of the gateway implementation are given. The gateway, entirely designed and developed by an international collaboration, has been in production since 1985
