  • Abstract
    1.3 Gbit/s has been transmitted over 107 km of dispersion-shifted monomode fibre using a 1.55 ¿m multimode laser and a GaInAs PINFET receiver, demonstrating the viability of using non-mode-stabilised lasers in long-haul high-bit-rate optical transmission systems.
