Abstract :
The modified-step-segment method (MSSM) for calculating Ti:LiNbO3 optical waveguides is proposed. Because the MSSM employs Bessel functions only for the turning point segment and employs simple circular and hyperbolic functions for the other segments, the CPU time and overflow problems are greatly reduced. Excellent agreement with exact results and good convergence characteristics are confirmed.
