Abstract :
Tests at temperatures relevant to service conditions show the hydrogen evolved from optical fibres coated with thermally cured silicones and nylon is limited and follows second-order kinetics. These results contradict those previously reported from bulk silicones. This concentration of hydrogen from coated fibres is acceptable for cable applications.
