Abstract
The dynamic motion of a type of magnetic wheel based on short-stator principle is studied analytically. The normal force and pitching moment generated in a single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM) in it are expressed in relation with the levitation control system. Two types of speed control scheme of SLIM´s are compared through this interactive motion. Using running on the discontinuous irregularities in the guideway as an example, dynamic behaviours are evaluated with simulations against a module of HSST-03. There is no significant influence on levitation gap length even in the high speed within normal operation. However, the trade off relation between capacities of magnet drivers and inverter for SLIM becomes clear.
