Abstract :
This paper proposes an asynchronous MAC protocol named Fine-grained wakeup request MAC (FG-MAC) emphasizing a low power listening technique for wireless sensor networks. FG-MAC reduces energy consumption with two methods: fine-grained wakeup-request frame transmission with long acknowledgement, and collision avoidance with the random length preamble. The proposed methods are evaluated by analysis and experiments.
