Abstract :
The reproduction pulse amplitude of a single pole head from double-layer perpendicular media has been analyzed. We derived an analytic expression to relate the pulse amplitude to the head and medium parameters. Experimental data are also presented to verify the calculated results. The reproduction performances of a single pole head and a ring head are theoretically compared and found to be comparable when both are normalized to the same head inductance.
