Insulation Reliability - 6 [Dakin´s Corner]

In the two previous columns in this series, the problem of conduction in insulation was discussed in relation to dielectric heating and electric stress distribution in the insulation system. In this issue, the problem of conducting particles or inclusions in insulation is discussed. Conducting defects are perhaps an obvious deficiency; it is surprising how often this problem is overlooked in selecting or designing insulation.
