Abstract
This paper describes a finite element formulation for modeling permanent magnets in electromagnetic devices. The method was used to predict flux densities of air stablized electrical machine under no load condition. Search coil measurements of flux densities in the device were used to verify the validity of the model, and an agreement well within 5% was obtained.
