Abstract
The costs of quality for software, a methodology for the collection of costs, and how the costs of quality can be used to point the way toward quality improvement and significant cost reductions are discussed. Root cause analysis and corrective action using software costs of quality are described. It is concluded that establishing a software cost of quality system is an easy, cost-effective method for initiating long-term cost reductions and real quality improvement
