Abstract :
The dependence of effective index of two-dimensional (2-D) photonic crystal on propagation parameter is analyzed based on rigorous theory of 2-D periodic medium. The anisotropy and forbidden propagation direction with imaginary index can be predicted to provide the sound basis for particular device design.
