Abstract :
The author reports on efforts to develop and investigate new dense, radiation hard and fast inorganic scintillators suitable for very good resolution electromagnetic calorimeters to be built at the new high luminosity accelerators. Recent results on the most promising candidates are given with some comments about mass scale production and cost considerations. Emphasis is placed on cerium fluoride which is considered to be the most promising candidate
