Abstract :
The design of a 400 MHz directional antenna for a space vehicle is presented. The design utilizes the spacecraft itself as an integral part of the antenna. The antenna has a gain of 4 dB over a dipole, a front to back ratio of 8 dB, and a - 6 dB beam angle of 34\\deg . Design equations and experimental data are presented.
