Abstract
The authors have carried out an analysis of the performances of a d.c. electromagnetic pump with a superconductive field magnet (SCEMP). The importance is stressed of the introduction of an algorithm capable of evaluating the power losses in the conducting fluid outside the magnet; the electromagnetic efficiency of the pump is further analyzed, by varying the length of the magnet itself as well as the spatial distribution of the magnetic flux density.
