Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a method to extract a region including the objects of interest based on image features such as edge magnitude and color contrast. Our method differs from template or model-based top-down approaches, as it can be applied to images containing any kind of objects. We evaluated our method on arbitrary selected images and in this paper we show that results comparable to human performance can be obtained.
