Abstract :
Investigations have been made on video recording performance and wear resistance of metal tapes containing graphite fluoride. The graphite fluoride was obtained by fluorination of carbon black. The tapes were prepared by conventional methods using magnetic metal particles which have a coercivity of 1500 Oe and a specific surface area of 55 m2/g. The electromagnetic characteristics and still-frame performance of the tapes are discussed in comparison with tapes containing other lubricants. The tapes containing graphite fluoride were superior to the other tapes in video response characteristics and durability.
