Abstract
The performance of conventional adaptive filters used for cochannel interference suppression degrades when the desired signal and the interference have similar characteristics. The author proposes a technique that makes use of the different data clock phases of the desired signal and the interference to separate the data transitions of the desired signal from those of the interference. This principle is used to modify a least mean square adaptive filter. Simulation results and an expression for the weight error vector are presented
