Abstract
A previous modal analysis for a circulartunnel containing a thin wire is shown to be greatly simplified at low frequencies provided the wall conductivity is high. The explicit formula for the propagation constant, so obtained when specialized to a perfectly conducting wire, is in agreement with a quasi-static analysis by Wu et al. [2] for a similar configuration.
