Abstract
An ANN generalised inversion control strategy for a turbo-generator governor is proposed. The ANN generalised inversion, which can approach the dynamic inversion of the original controlled system, is composed of a single static ANN and several linear components. Combining the ANN generalised inversion and the original system forms a pseudolinear composite system whose poles can be properly placed in the left complex plane to obtain an ideal open-loop frequency characteristic. Thus the turbo-generator governor control system can be linearised on a large scale without knowledge of the system´s accurate parameters and operating states. Meanwhile, an additional linear controller can be easily designed to form the closed-loop control system, based on linear control theory. The simulation results of both a single- and two-machine infinite-bus system show that the transient stability of the power system can be significantly enhanced by using the proposed control strategy.
