Abstract
To find restoration strategies for power distribution networks (PDNs), the methodology of optimal supervisory control is applied. Allowing for the contingencies of the PDN, the authors introduce a discrete event system (DES) and assign the penalties of the states and the costs of the events of the DES. To assign the penalties and the costs, the authors assess the static security of the PDN through load flow calculations and find the loads to be supplied under the contingencies. After introducing the DES and assigning the penalties and the costs, the authors obtain the restoration strategies for the considered contingencies of the PDN using the optimal supervisor design algorithm.
