Abstract :
Experiments were carried out on two sites at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) to measure the effect of trees not in leaf on microwave signals at 11.2 and 20 GHz. The first site, Fermi Avenue, is a line of deciduous trees along the side of a road spaced at regular intervals. The second site, the Mound, is a wedge shaped copse of sycamore trees. The measurements were carried out towards the end of March. The experiments were undertaken to acquire data to allow further development of prediction models
