Abstract
This paper describes the NAG/SERC Finite Element Library and its application to electromagnetic field problems. The basic structure, contents and philosophy underlying the Library will be illustrated and discussed in the light of current electromagnetic software. To demonstrate the inherent flexibility of the library concept three example applications in electromagnetics will be considered.
