Abstract :
The paper describes the procedure for analyzing the transient magnetic field of REPM synchronous generator. Cross-section of machine is modelled using finite elements formulated by nodal method with two conductivity matrices to present the effects of eddy currents in solid iron and stator winding. Two types of eddy current in solid rotor, produced respectively by the amplitude change of magnetic potential and the relative movement between medium and magnetic field, are taken into account. The analysis is applied to a small REPM machine, and computed results compare well with test.
