Abstract :
A high-speed packet-switched metropolitan area network can be built on a residential cable television (CATV) system. The-goal of such a system is to extend the local area network environment from the office to the home. This paper presents an overview of communications to the home via CATV and proposes specific methods of utilizing the residential CATV system to bring high performance communication to the home.
