Abstract :
A study of skin effect analysis in axisymmetric structures composed of thin alternating layers of conducting and insulating materials, in general not following level surfaces of the cylindrical coordinate system, is presented. A general treatment of such problems by means of tensor conductivity, giving rise to an integro-partial differential equation, is given, and a finite-element formulation allowing a numerical analysis is derived. Finally, an example of application to a new kind of combined poloidal and toroidal winding for advanced fusion machines is presented
