Abstract :
This letter presents experimental demonstrations of variable-length optical packet switching with all-optical contention resolution "on the fly" on a packet-by-packet basis by incorporating an optical router controller that examines a packet length field in the optical label. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the contention resolution and indicate error-free operation.
