Abstract
So far, World System Teletext has been used mainly for European languages. This paper discusses how it can be exploited to handle some of the writing systems used in other parts of the world. Possible coding methods are suggested and the design of suitable decoders is considered. By way of illustration of the techniques involved, the writing systems of Arabia, India, Korea and Japan are taken as examples.
