Abstract :
Open-core type inductors are usually used for large rating power converters. One of the most important problems to be solved is to reduce their weights. For this purpose, this paper presents a divided open core type inductor as a basic idea and a fundamental analysis to be required for its design. Investigated results suggest that the proposed type of inductor has a large possibility of reducing the weight by properly designing core arrangements.
