Resonant Degaussing for TV and High Definition Color Monitors

In a shadow mask color picture tube, accurate landing of the red, green and blue beams on the corresponding phosphors on the screen is obtained by careful design of the electron optics and the magnetic deflection system. However, the earth´s magnetic field can deflect the beams from the intended color to adjacent phosphors of different color, causing purity errors on the screen.
