  • Abstract
    A technique of detecting the presence of quantisation-induced contours in digital monochrome image signals is presented and an interpolation process is proposed that reduces their visibility. Brief informal subjective tests suggest that the improvement is equivalent to a doubling in the number of quantisation levels.
