Abstract
The existence of an initial permeability peak in polycrystalline toroidal samples of gadolinium iron garnet Gd3 Fe5 O12 at low temperature, around 55 K, is shown. The origin of the phenomenon is explained, as in the case of the HOPKINSON peaks, by the relative variation of magnetization and anisotropy. It can be interesting to use this effect for fundamental investigations of cationic structure transformations and for applications at low temperature.
