Abstract
A flat write-current response (signal amplitude vs. write current) is a desirable feature of magnetic-recording heads, because it provides increased tolerance to variations in various system parameters. It is shown by theory and experiment that the write-current response of ferrite heads can be made flat by proper choice of throat height and apex angle.
