Abstract
Consolidated work loads running around the clock means that today´s large, general-purpose computers must meet high availability demands. To meet these demands, it is argued that the Model 982 provides fault tolerance by combining enhanced circuit-level error detection and failure isolation techniques with system-level techniques exploiting inherent redundancy.<>
