Abstract :
This paper describes models suitable for predicting the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in longitudinal, high-density magnetic recording. Model derivation is discussed for the conditions where the SNR is limited by either system noise or flexible-media noise. In both cases, the experimental results agree closely with the predictions.
