Abstract
The classic treatment of the heat transfer from a current-carrying thin film to a substrate at 4.2 K was found for the case of a superconducting thin film used as an electric switch. THe calculations were then extended to the case of He II cooling (2.17 K) for which the Kapitza resistance can no longer be neglected. The result of these calculations is the thermal response time for the switch due to a pulsed heat source.
