Abstract :
Fe-Cr-Co magnets are well-known for their ductility and superior magnetic properties comparable to Alnico alloys. Results on the trials to manufacture them by casting are disclosed. It is found that by proper melting, suitable composition adjustment, and continuous cooling in magnetic aging, magnetic properties comparable to those of Alnico V alloy are obtainable with Fe-23.5/24.5Cr-11.5/12.5Co-0.8/ 1.0Si-0.8/1.0Ti-1.0Cu (in wt%). Details of melting practices, casting, and heat treatments are given.
