Abstract
The influence of the frequency-dependent resistive losses of interconnect lines on the propagation of very-high-speed digital pulses is investigated using different loss models. It is shown that, depending on the range of the frequency spectrum of digital pulses and/or the cross-sectional dimensions of an interconnect structure, the DC losses and losses caused by Wheeler´s incremental inductance rule are to be extended by broadband skin effect losses, to obtain a better prediction of the pulse deformation.
