Abstract
The authors demonstrate polarisation-insensitive bit switching of a 20GHz signal pulse train over a large wavelength range of 29nm in a nonlinear optical loop mirror configuration employing a 500m loop fibre and a polarisation maintaining EDFA. A high on/off extinction ratio exceeding 18dB and a signal/switching pulse walk-off of less than 13ps were measured
