Abstract :
The nonlinear differential equations of unipolar DC corona in air are solved iteratively using a finite-element based algorithm. The distortion of the flux lines pattern by the corona-generated space charge is accurately demonstrated for the first time. Numerical results for both the current density and electric field on the ground plane show good agreement with experimental data.
