  • Abstract
    Increasing numbers of networked appliances that can be monitored and maintained remotely have begun to appear in the consumer electronics market. With the customers´ increasing reliance on these appliances, manufacturers are branding their products as highly available, user maintenance-free, or long-lived. Therefore, network appliance manufacturers require a practical maintenance and monitoring system suitable with diverse computing architectures, appliance functionalities, programming languages, and diverse home networks. This paper introduces object models for maintenance and monitoring of high-availability network appliances. These object models were developed with the flexibility of implementation in mind. The proposed object models can be deployed quickly on disparate computing architectures and communication networks.
