Abstract
An analytical study of the problems of imaging subsurface radar targets is made for both two- and three-dimensional targets. Expressions are derived which display the attenuation and conductive dispersion effects introduced by a lossy homogeneous ground. The derived expressions are presented in terms of a profile or area function and its derivatives. The effects are illustrated for the case of a perfectly conducting 1-m sphere at a depth of 10 m with various ground parameters.
