Abstract :
The use of computers for acquisition and display of conductivity-temperature-depth TD) data is well established and practi-cally essential. Microcomputers may be employed more effectively than conventional computers in these applications if certain design constraints are observed. The benefits of employing dedicated microcomputers to acquisition and display of CTD data can be lower cost, better physical portability, and improved quality of data. Development of several microcomputer systems in this application, from 1975 to 1978. their effectiveness, and their implications for future development are discussed.
