Abstract :
Specifications for PD tests on cables and equipment have been harmonized gradually during the past thirty years. However, there are still marked differences in the requirements for overvoltage conditioning, prior to PD tests, also in the voltages at which PD measurements are made. The merits of various specifications are discussed in relation to the conditions which cause PD and determine their magnitude and recurrence, in different types of insulation
