Abstract :
An all-fibre gyroscope using a depolarised superluminescent diode which has a coherence length of 8 ¿m and a degree of polarisation of 0.03 is constructed. Although the configuration is very simple and the fibre length is as short as 200 m, the drift and detection limits are less than 14 deg/h and 1.5 deg/h, respectively.
