Abstract
An analysis is given for the response of an eight-element direction finding antenna to a localized radio-frequency source. The error between the indicated and true bearing is evaluated and illustrated by graphs. It is also shown that the additional error, introduced by bringing the source into proximity of the antenna system is negligible if the antenna-source distance is greater than
. This is an important consideration in the calibration of the system.
