Abstract
The three different force-calculating methods based on magnetic field analysis using the finite-element method are evaluated using a fundamental model, which is constructed with permanent magnets and iron plates. The magnetic force for the model is calculated by Maxwell´s stress tensor method, the virtual work method, and the magnetizing current method. The validity of these methods is confirmed by experiments with the model
