Abstract :
The use of a thermomagnetoelectric effect called the Nernst effect to reduce the intrinsic time constant of heat fluxmeters is proposed. The Nernst voltage was measured on a polycrystalline bismuth sample in terms of the heat flux, the magnetic induction field, and the temperature. A new heat fluxmeter, based on the Nernst effect and fitted to a 15-cm3 cell, was built and tested. At room temperature, its sensitivity is 0.6 μV/mW and the main intrinsic time constant is 25 s
